History abounds in the province of Cavite. There are many historic sites and landmarks in the province that are associated with the revolution, foremost of which is the Aguinaldo Shrine, the birthplace of Philippine independence. But alongside these historic sites, Cavite is also home to numerous homegrown restaurants and eateries.
So after a visit to these sites and refreshing your historical memories, don't miss the chance to try these food places out.
Las Tiendas
The big city's food bazaar trend has reached Cavite with Las Tiendas. It is an open air food hub located within Aguinaldo Park. Just like its cousins in the metro, Las Tiendas offers a number of stalls serving a wide variety of food.
It is currently open during Fridays to Sundays from 5:00 PM til late. It's perfect for a casual, low key, and laid-back weekend dinner.
Food here is generally affordable ranging from a few tens to a hundred pesos.
You can also enjoy the light and sound show in the park for free while eating.
For more information, visit Las Tiendas' Facebook page here.
Malen's Restaurant
Malen's is a restaurant that has embraced the historical legacy of Noveleta, the base town of the Magdiwang faction of the Katipunan during the Philippine revolution. It has this historic and old world charm as it is decorated with antique furnishings, Spanish-era photographs, and vintage memorabilia.
Apart from this, the restaurant has integrated interesting historical facts and trivias in its menu. So take the time to read through the menu and learn history.
Malen's is a casual dining restaurant providing table service and a broad range of food options. Price is a little more expensive than those offered in fast casual restaurants but it's definitely worth the try. Recommendations: Malen's Roast Beef and Kaldereta ni Sakay. The kaldereta here is one of the best we have ever tasted, that's why we never miss to order it every single time.
The restaurant also has a garden which is usually used as a venue for events like weddings and birthdays.
Malen's is located along 9025 Magdiwang Highway, Noveleta, Cavite. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. For more information, visit their website or Facebook page here.
Gradevole
If you're looking for a quiet little restaurant that offers good Italian food, you can check out Gradevole. Its name, which means pleasant and enjoyable in English, perfectly describes the quality of food it serves.
Tucked in a gas station, this restaurant serves a selection of fresh and affordable food including pizza, pasta, meat and seafood dishes. So there's something on the menu for everyone.
Here, you're sure to be satisfied in both size and flavor of the food. Our personal favorites are the Burger Pizza, Margheritta Pizza, Gradevole Chicken and Chicken Parmiagana.
It's not yet popular but it has the potential to be the one of next important restaurants in Cavite's growing list of dining destinations.
Gradevole is located at the Binakayan Seaoil Gas Station, Covelandia Road, Kawit Cavite. It is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. For more information, visit their Facebook page here.
Countryside Steakhouse and Cafe
Countryside Steakhouse and Cafe is one of the most popular homegrown restaurants in Cavite. It started in 1984 as a "carinderia" that attracted students from nearby schools in Dasmarinas. It has expanded over the years and now has branches in and out of Cavite.
It's a cowboy-themed eatery decorated with wood panels and various saloon accessories.
Apart from its cool dining setting, good taste and affordable dishes make this restaurant a popular choice among locals.
Our personal recommendations here are their sizzling dishes such as Sisig, T-Bone Steak, Chicken Wings, and Beef and Mushroom - tasty and the serving's good for sharing.
Countryside is open daily. Operating hours vary per branch. For more information, visit the main branch's Facebook page here.
Hidden Tapsihan
If you are craving for silog meals while in Cavite, you must not miss Hidden Tapsihan. It is literally a hidden, "secret" eatery. Why so? Because it is hidden away down an alley off the main roads.
You may never have heard of this hole-in-the-wall restaurant if you have not been to Cavite, but it is a beloved place by the locals.
Of course, the bestseller here is their Tapsilog. It is a tender, sweet, old-fashioned tapa that is enhanced and sharpened by their special vinegar. Other silog favorites that are served here are Tocilog, Hotsilog, Noksilog, and Longsilog. There is also BBQ, Pork Chop, Lechon Kawali, Sisig, Daing and Beef Teriyaki.
Meal prices range from PHP85-135.
Hidden Tapsihan is located at 182 General Mascardo St., Wakas, Kawit, Cavite. It also has branches in Bacoor and Centennial Road. For more information, visit their Facebook page here.
Note: We were not able to take pictures of Hidden Tapsihan. We'll update as soon as we get another chance to eat here.
