Update: Island Cove has officially closed after 20 years on July 28, 2018
Summer is just around the corner. Definitely the first thing that comes to mind to battle the scorching Philippine sun is to get wet. But if you're based in Manila, the nearest beaches would be at least two to three hours away.
The best alternative to have fun under the sun is to just drop down a nice slide and splash into a cool swimming pool. One of the nearest and easily accessible water parks from the metro is Oceania Swim and Splash Park in Cavite.

The Park and its Features
Oceania Swim and Splash Park is one of the star attractions of Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park. It is dubbed as the most exhilarating family water attraction this side of Mega Manila.

It has a 3,000-square-meter two-layered lagoon shaped swimming pool with depths ranging from 3 to 6 feet. It has four giant fiberglass slides of varying colors, heights, and lengths. The park has also set up inflatable slides in the pools. This area is designed for adults, teenagers, and older kids.

Oceania also features a 350-square-meter splash park with rubber matted flooring and splash and spray equipment. It has different levels of water height and pressure for kids of varying ages. It has small, gentle water fountains and padding pools for small children. It also has colorful, fish-shaped buckets that are slowly filled with water and simultaneously tip over to dump water to bigger children. The splash park is a playground children will surely love.

The park has Philippine National Red Cross-licensed lifeguards and it uses MSDS materials to provide the cleanest and safest swimming facilities for guests.
Park Admission
Back in October, we visited the 2017 Travel Sale Fair at the World Trade Center. As the culminating travel fair in the metro, it offered the cheapest travel deals for juanderers like us.
One of the deals we snagged were tickets to Oceania Swim and Splash Park plus admission to another Island Cove attraction, the Island Aviary.

Regular rates to the park with Aviary access per person (in PHP) are as follows:

But the deal that we bought during the fair was only for PHP130 per person (all days). We only paid a third of the regular price which gave us total savings of PHP1,560 for 6 persons.

Restaurants
Island Cove imposes a "No Outside Food" policy. We initially planned on going out for lunch since there are numerous restaurant options in Kawit. However, we were having such a really good time swimming that we did not want to interrupt the fun and just decided to eat inside the park.
|
Sangley Point Restaurant |
Restaurants in Island Cove include the Fishing Village, Sangley Point, iCafe, and Bayside KTV. We chose Sangley Point as it is the closest to the park. We even requested that the food be served in our cottage. We ordered the following:
- Sangley Burger: Grilled Wagyu beef patty with mild cheddar cheese in home made bun and served with Caesar salad
- Fish and Chips: Beer battered fish fillet served with onion rings, homemade potato chips, tartar sauce, shallot vinegar, and lemon wedge
- Three Cheese Flat Bread Pizza: Oval-shaped pizza with tomato, Mozarella, Parmesan and Cheddar cheese
|
Delicious food from Sangley Point |
The Sangley Burger did not disappoint as the patty was thick, juicy, and offered delightful meatiness. The Three Cheese Pizza was surprisingly good with excellent cheese quality and nice crust. The Fish and Chips was the only let down as it was too oily and salty.
The price ranged from average to pricey. For the items we ordered, we spent a total of PHP1,192.77 for 6 persons or roughly PHP199 per head.

Experience
For the inexpensive deal, we really had an enjoyable day at Oceania Swim and Splash Park. We knew it would be fun for the two juanderers but thought it can really be a good option to spend the weekend or special occasions with the entire family (that's why we bought 6 tickets at the travel fair). The park is well-designed that we saw guests of all ages enjoying it and families getting to spend a lot of quality time together.
It is open on Mondays to Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. For more information about the park and Island Cove, visit their website here.
